To raise the public’s awareness and interest in“Japan Autumn Festival in Hong Kong – Rediscovering Nippon”
To encourage Hong Kong citizens to participate in cultural exchange events between Japan and Hong Kong happening in Hong Kong


About Japan Autumn Festival in Hong Kong

Following great success in 2016, the Consulate General of Japan in Hong Kong is proud to present, together with other Japanese cultural organisations, schools, enterprises and local government, as well as various Hong Kong and third-party enterprises, the "Japan Autumn Festival in Hong Kong – Rediscovery Nippon" from October to November every year, introducing a series of Japanese culture-related activities.

Eligibility
Primary Division: Full time Hong Kong primary school students (P1 to P6)
Secondary Division: Full time Hong Kong secondary school students (S1 to S6)
Open Division: Hong Kong residents aged over 18


Entry Requirements and Points to Note
All entries must be the participants' original creations, which have never been published.
All entries must be in the form of electronic files. Manuscripts must be scanned into electronic files. The files can be in PDF, JPG or PNG format but must not exceed 10MB in size.
Original files for computer-aided drawings must be in PDF format with at least 300 dpi resolutions and a measurement of 420 x 594 mm (i.e. A2 size,  not smaller than 4961px * 7016px). If the original file is larger than 10 MB in size, compressed files can be accepted at entry. The organiser will contact entrants to provide the original files according to needs after the competition is completed.
Each entrant can only submit one entry and the same entry can only be submitted once.
All entries must not contain any content that is obscene, indecent, provocative, violent, slandering, insulting, immoral or promoting individual, commercial, religious or political interests, lest the entries may be disqualified.
Participants must ensure that their works will not infringe the intellectual property rights of any other persons.
The “Japan Autumn Festival in Hong Kong—Rediscovering Nippon” Executive Committee has the right to display the entry contents, titles, synopses, entrants' names and grades in any form of media for demonstration, publication, exhibition, promotion or any non-commercial activities and has the right to edit, translate, adapt, use, copy and distribute, in whole or in part of the entries without any need for prior consent of or payment of fees to the entrants.
Participants must agree to unconditionally, irrevocably and exclusively assign and transfer to the “Japan Autumn Festival in Hong Kong—Rediscovering Nippon” Executive Committee all intellectual property rights subsisting in the entries submitted for the competition. All entries will not be returned to the participants.
Shortlisted entries, together with their entrants' names, titles and synopses, will be posted for public viewing and voting at Fanpage on an SNS platform.
Results of the competition will be decided by an independent adjudication panel, whose decision shall be final. No appeals will be entertained.
The organiser reserves the right to disqualify any participants who have violated any of the rules of the competition.
All winners are required to provide their Hong Kong Identity Cards, student ID cards or any other valid identification documents for verification purposes.
The organiser reserves the right to amend the rules and other arrangements of the contest without prior notification to the participants.
Personal data submitted by the participants will only be used for purposes related to the contest.



Judging Criteria

Primary, Secondary and Open Division Awards
The adjudication panel constituted by members of the “Japan Autumn Festival in Hong Kong” Executive Committee will judge according to the following criteria.

50% Contents – Expressing the theme of the competition
25% Composition and visual impact
25% Creativity

The Best Popularity Award
Eligible entries will be uploaded to “JAPANinHK”, the Facebook Fanpage of Consulate-General of Japan in Hong Kong for public voting. The entry with the highest number of votes will be awarded the Best Popularity Award.


Enrolment and Submission of Entries

Participants shall submit enrollment forms and entries by email (email address: registration@hn.mofa.go.jp).  Please specify “Japan Autumn Festival in Hong Kong Poster Design Competition” at the E-mail subject.

| Frequently Asked Questions


1) Can I submit more than one entry?
A: Each entrant can only submit one entry and the same entry can only be submitted once.

2) Can I submit my hand-drawn artwork in person?
A: All entries, whether computer-aided or hand-drawn, must be in the form of electronic files and will not be accepted in person. Hand-drawn artwork should be scanned and submitted as an electronic file in PDF, JPG or PNG format, provided that the file size is less than 10MB. Please note the differences, for example in colour, between the finished electronic file and the hand-drawn work, and make adjustments as necessary before submission.

3) Does the artwork have to be in A2 size?
A: Original files for computer-aided drawings must be in PDF format with at least 300 dpi resolutions and a measurement of 420 x 594 mm (i.e. A2 size,  not smaller than 4961px * 7016px).


Hand-drawn artworks should be scanned and submitted as digital files. The size ratio should align with the "A paper system, i.e. A4, A3, best to be A2", since we only accept digital files (included scanned copies) which size are 420 x 594 mm / 4961px * 7016px (i.e. A2 size).

If the original file is larger than 10 MB in size, compressed files can be accepted at entry.

4) Is it necessary to include the “Japan Autumn Festival in Hong Kong” official logo in the artwork?
A: No.

5) Is it necessary to include any specific words in the artwork?
A: There is no requirement to include specific words in the artwork for entries in this competition. Participants can make their own judgement on whether such words are needed for their design.

6) Can I include cartoon characters or photos in my artwork?
A: In accordance with the competition guidelines, entrants must ensure that their entries will not infringe the intellectual property rights of any other persons.
