JAPAN AUTUMN FESTIVAL IN HONG KONG - EVENT SUMMARY
SEA WORLD ETEGAMI & ORIGAMI EXHIBITION & WORKSHOP
As part of 2021 Japan Autumn Festival in Hong Kong and an accredited event of BoDW CityProg, Sea World Etegami & Origami Workshop and Exhibition advances youth arts advocacy, as well as providing the local underprivileged children an opportunity to learn Japanese art and culture. Art of MY Family (AoMYF) serves as the lead curator of this program, in collaboration with Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Welfare Council.
Under the guidance of AoMYF founder May Yeung, youth teaches children to draw sea animals on etegami postcards at Hauser & Wirth Gallery in November. Through drawing sea animals, children’s appreciation of marine conservation grew and their understanding of United Nations Sustainable Development Goals deepened.
To cultivate the next generation’s interest in the arts, AoMYF provides youth the opportunity to be the co-curators of the exhibition at SKHWC’s Tung Chung Centre. A talk about the concept behind the program, as well as the career path of artists, will also be held.
May etegami and origami turn waterdrops into an ocean of imagination.
