The Wandering Princess is adapted from the biography of Aishinkakura Hiro, (also known as Saga Hiro). Tanaka Kinuyo hired Wada Natto as the screenwriter, (she rarely accepts script work other than that of her husband Ichikawa Kon), to depict a woman who is at the mercy of fate. The protagonist faces all kinds of hardships with perseverance and creates a future for herself. Kyo Machiko’s plump appearance and excellent acting skills have shown tenacious vitality in her performance. Under Watanabe Kimio's smooth cinematography, all the clear-cut details of the film, including art direction and costumes, are effectively integrated. This magnificent work is made possible with an all-woman crew.
