The Takashima City Fair will be held at ARTS & CRAFTS STUDIO for one month from October 1st.
We invite you to take a look at the clothing and other goods that make use of Takashima City's traditional techniques.

Where is Takashima City?
Located in the northwestern part of Lake Biwa, the largest lake in Japan, Takashima City in Shiga Prefecture produces one-third of the water that flows into Lake Biwa and is surrounded by forests and lakes. It is also a place deeply related to the founders of "Takashimaya" Department Store.
Takashima City can be reached by train from Kyoto in about 50 minutes, and by train from Kansai Airport in about 2 hours. You can experience the beauty of each season in Takashima city through activities such as picking fruits such as apples and grapes, and outdoor activities like SUP and canoeing.

Takashima Chijimi(Cotton Crepe)  has a unique, light texture that allows the wind to blow through it easily and does not stick to the skin. It is an excellent fabric for staying cool and comfortable, and is the result of the wisdom and skill of craftsmen.
In order to make casual wear from Takashima Chijimi, we have continuously made improvements to the fabric.
Biwa Cotton has evolved into a modern fabric that suits the design of casual wear while maintaining its unique functionality.
We are enjoying the benefits of the wisdom and technology of the past while adapting them to the modern world, and we are passing them on to the next generation.
The Biwa Cotton project will continue its path to improvement.

Omi Sensu fans with a modern style and made with traditional techniques of 350 years are produced in Takashima.
Various types of fans, from gorgeous decorative fans to fans that incorporate your hobbies, bring comfort to the hearts of people all over Japan. They are the only safe and secure fans made in Japan.

About 20 years ago, we started making bags in Takashima City, Shiga Prefecture, located in the north-west of Lake Biwa.
The bags are handmade one by one, carefully and wholeheartedly, using simple yet durable canvas, which has been woven in the local Takashima City for a long time.
The bags are designed to be as simple as possible in order to make the most out of the quality of the Takashima Canvas.
